Ayurveda for Higher Energy Levels

Have you been feeling low on energy lately or relying too much on caffeine? You may not realize it, but this is a strong signal from your body indicating that something fundamental needs correction. Drinking too much caffeine can aggravate vata—or, in modern terms, contribute to adrenal fatigue. Our adrenal glands produce adrenaline, and caffeine directly impacts this process, potentially depleting them." → avoids repetition (“adrenal glands”) and smooths phrasing. This can result in a constant feeling of low energy. Some holistic remedies for this type of problem are:
  • Eat more grounding foods such as beets, sweet potatoes, burdock root.
  • Reduce caffeine intake and sip warm water throughout the day. The goal is to minimize foods and beverages that shock your system. Cold water requires your body to expend energy to warm it to body temperature.

    Naturally Energetic
If your tiredness is more persistent and not related to burnout, it may indicate a more chronic issue. Suggestions for this category of tiredness include:
  • Maintain a regular eating schedule, with your largest meal at noon when digestion is naturally strongest.
  • Get into the rhythm of exercising regularly.
  • This kind of tiredness is linked to excess kapha, which tends to favor sleep, inactivity, and avoiding exercise. Paradoxically, the more energy you use, the more your body learns to generate, so get moving!
  • You may also experience indigestion or bloating, so eat foods that restore heat and stimulate your digestive fire (agni), such as ginger, black pepper, cayenne, and fermented foods.
